THE GARDEN ROOM

The design of a garden room and new kitchen extension to a Georgian period house in Holmfirth for a private client. Urban Box Architects provided a full architectural service from design inception to planning, building control submission through to construction on site.

The bold and contemporary design utilised traditional materials such as local Delph stone, green oak and lead welted cladding to create a stunning modern addition to the original Georgian house. The exposed oak frame with horizontal oak louvres provides solar shading to the south facing full height large format triple glazing.

The contemporary interior fit-out design includes underfloor heating, smart controlled led lighting and engineered hardwood flooring. The modern kitchen fit-out, which is located in the original part of the house, incorporates a feature island unit with blue kitchen unit fronts and white quartz worktops.
